Pocket Power Plans
Mark Bass,  02/03/2010

Pocket Power will be bound for his 4th season in Kwa-Zulu Natal when he leaves with Mike’s string of 28 horses later next month.

There was recent talk amongst the stable that we were going to nominate him for the Gr2 Gomma Gomma challenge in Johannesburg, but Mike has subsequently decided against the move. “His first run back over the 2000m trip at high altitude is a bit too risky at this point in his career”, said Mike. If there was a race over a shorter trip for him, he would have probably had a crack at that.

We have chosen a slightly easier path for  him this season and his main aim will be the Champions Cup and Gold Challenge WFA events.

He will most likely have a warm up in the Gr1 Scottsville Sprint before this, and depending on his well being at the time, we will then decide if he will run in the Durban July or not. He is very well at the moment and is back doing some very light track work after running third in the J&B Met just over a month ago.

There is a great article written on Pockets groom Boy Boy Jevu, which has been published in the February edition of the Business Day Sport, by the SAB Sport journalist of the year, Gary Lemke. Read it on our website
