Durban July Sparks are starting to fly on Interbet
Charl Pretorius - Freeracer,  21/07/2010

THE screen shot above shows the Interbet trading platform at 8am this morning, with increased betting activity reported on the 2010 Durban July. Interbet’s Johnny Stark reports: “Betting increases as July fever sets in over the next several days leading to the race.”

Scroll down for the full platform. For those not familiar with Interbet, the “Odds” column on the left shows the latest available price on offer, e.g. Irish Flame is at 4-1. To the right, the “On request” column shows the price punters are asking for. As you will see the supporters of Irish Flame are asking for R40 000 to be filled at 5-1 (could well be gradually matched as support as the market swings marginally up and down), and one punter is asking for a small bet at 11-2, which will probably be matched in the next few hours because someone out there will be willing to risk R110.

At the bottom of the chart, supporters of Goat can win R10,000 if their request of 200-1 about Paul Lafferty’s filly are filled.

Here is the current chart, which will be updated as we approach the big day.
