New Website

If you are a regular visitor to our website I’m sure you would have immediately noticed our new look MBR website. We have not made all that many changes to the actual content, but we have made a few structural changes, and thankfully changed the colour. That maroon was getting a bit much!

All our content is now centrally located in the centre of the website upon browsing the various sections, and we have also added in a small flash gallery of Pocket Power and his statistics towards the top of our site. If you have any further suggestions we would be love to hear from you.

KZN:

We were really holding thumbs for Consensual last night, she has really turned the corner since her setback in the Cape last season and we expected a big run from her in the Fillies  Guineas. She ran a close up third to On Her Toes and we were really happy with this performance considering she may have just tired a bit the last half furlong. Her next outing will be in the group1 Woolavington in early June, she would have come on well with this run and I’m sure she will give a very good account of herself there.

The colt’s version was won impressively by Big City Life who ran out an easy winner. Any form taken through his line has held up very well and in my opinion he has certainly become the horse to beat from the three year old contenders in this years Durban July.

Our only other two runners at Greyville last night were our two fillies Via Della and Mars Star. Both runs were pleasing for their first runs back and they finished well, just short of the money. Mars Star is a very capable filly and her next run will also be in the Woolavington where she joins Consensual as one of our hopefuls.

Four more horses have joined our Durban string from our Cape yard. Fort Vogue, the very expensive Fort Wood gelding (out of Vogue by Model Man) He is a very handsome individual who showed us great promise in the beginning of his racing career. His looks, potential and pedigree made him potentially a great stallion prospect; however he became so heavy upfront we were forced into eventually gelding him.  Another Giant (Giants Causeway/Another Legend) is also a very handsome colt who should go classic distances and he will enjoy the sunshine on his back in Durban and will probably start racing towards the end of the season. Joan of Arc who will be ending her season off here before going to stud. There were not many races available for her in Cape Town and she doesn’t really act in the wet going, so we thought we would try and pick up another win in Natal. Bachelor of Arts has also joined our string after his run in the Port Elizabeth Derby where he finished 5th a short head out of the money. This was a very satisfactory run from him as he raced up with the pace the whole way and just seemed to get a little tired the last hundred metres or so. This was his second run back after a break so he may just have needed this. He will take his chances in the Natal Derby at the end of June.

We will bring you a full update on all our Durban horses early next week, so keep posted
