Clarion Call ran out a comfortable winner in the second at Kenilworth for owners Marsh Shirtliff and Gaynor Rupert. She is by Kabool out of the Elliodor mare French Sun which we purchased at the National Yearling sales for R 700 000. She raced very green first time out over the 1000m but put it together nicely on Saturday and in time to come looks a promising prospect.
 Storey Bridge (Second Empire/Rose Party) has been steadily improving to break his maiden at the 4th attempt. Although not the biggest fellow around he has a lot of quality and has turned out to be a smart sort and will make his way through the divisions. He will now be gelded.
Temair, who was favourite for the listed ladies mile, arrived on course lame. She must have unfortunately injured herself in transit to the track. Nothing too serious but she will be briefly rested and then we will try and win another ordinary race with her before resting her until the spring.
After a short weekend visit back to the Cape, Mike returned to Durban this morning and will remain there until after the July. He was not too perturbed with the July draws of his two big runners (Pocket Power 12, and River Jetez 15) but said that he was more disappointed with the fillies draw. We will have to drop her in and hopefully she doesn’t have to much ground to make up in the closing stages.
Both Thundering Jet and Meteor Shower drew well at 3 and 6 respectively.
