Fort Vogue promising for Summer Season
Mark Bass,  13/07/2009

It seems the gelding did the trick, as Fort Vogue returned to the winner’s enclosure at Greyville this weekend for the 3rd time.
The handsome and expensive son of Fort Wood out of Vogue ( Thousand Nights), who was a 2006 Nationals sale topper, got off to a promising start in the beginning of his three year old career with back to back wins at the Kenilworth track, but lost his way soon afterwards and the decision to geld him was imminent.
He has always been a colt that we knew would take some time to come to hand, but he has thrived in the Durban conditions, and this win from his poor draw over the mile has reinforced his capabilities, and we can hopefully look optimistically towards the summer season with him.
He is owned in partnership by Marsh Shirtliff, Chris Van Niekerk and Markus Jooste and bred by Clifton Stud.

Los Colmos was our second winner on the night and came through to win well. This was a very pleasing and deserved win as he was well overdue. He has settled down well in his racing as he was always very keen as a young horse hence our decision to keep him up the straight. He settled very nicely over the 1400mts and should hopefully go on now to win more as we thought a lot of him as a young horse. He is owned in partnership by Marsh Shirtliff and Adreas Jacobs from Maine Chance stud.

Our horses in the Cape are looking particularly well and running accordingly. Sublimity, a daughter of Fort Wood out of Sublime Surge, broke her maiden after showing steady improvement for owners Mary Mavor and Jack Mitchell on Saturday.
