Her Majesty The Queen

Buckingham Palace

London SW1A 1AA

Madam,

We write to Your Majesty from South Africa with news from the Queens Plate, one of our countries most prestigious Horse racing events over the distance.

For the third successive year we have had the privilege of training the winner of the Grade 1 Queens Plate (Formerly the Kings Plate) with a horse by the name of Pocket Power. In so doing, he has become one of the greatest horses ever to grace the South African Turf.

Pocket Power is currently South Africa’s reigning Equine Horse of the year (2007/2008) and he has gone on to win 14 races (including seven group one races) Besides winning the Queens Plate for the last three years consecutively, he has also had three successive victories in Africa’s greatest horse race, the J&B Metropolitan Handicap (Grade 1 race over 2000mts).

If all goes well our intentions will be to race Pocket Power in the Dubai World Cup in 2010 at the ripe age of 7.

I have been training race horses for 35 years and I have also had the privilege of winning your great race on two prior occasions, with a horse called Counter Action in 1998 and Trademark in 2001.

Your Majesty should be pleased to know that the Rt Honorable Paul Botang has done a sterling job in representing Madam in this celebrated event. Myself, having been born in Leicester England, know your Majesty has a great passion for horse racing, so please excuse the liberty of my sending you this letter, but I thought Madam may appreciate an update on your prestigious horse race.

Your Majesty, we wish to thank you for your continued support of South African horse racing and more specifically The Queens Plate. We hope that Pocket Power has done Your race proud.

Yours Sincerely

Michael William Bass
